About Green and Cockburns Antique Restoration and Repair Service.

Antique clock restoration

In our antiques clock restoration department we restore clock movements in exactly the same way as when they were made with the added help of modern machine tools. We undertake face painting and clock re-silvering in exactly the same fashion as when they were made.

Antique longcase restoration

In our antique restoration department we undertake French polishing work and restore clock cases,replacing all original mouldings and brass fittings, which we cast in the workshop our restoration work on clock cases includes Dutch marquetry ebonised cases and all period finishes (including gilding and carving). All materials used are as they would have been, including animal glue for gluing and rabbit skin for gilding.

Invisible repairs

We pride ourselves in what we call invisible furniture repairs. This means that if we have repaired a clock case you should not be able to distinguish where the repair had been carried out this is work that can only be carried out by extremely competent French polishers. Don't just take our word for it look at some of our recent restoration projects.

Clock restoration programs.

In recent years Malcolm has been asked by the BBC and other television channels and the like to act as a restorer and adviser on TV programmes.

Malcolm is the resident clock expert and restorer for the restoration roadshow which is being shown by BBC two which is a program with Eric Knowles.

in this program Malcolm and the other restorers are bought things that are in desperate need of restoration, this restoration is undertaken at the venue which is generally a stately home and the like and if necessarytaken to the workshop for further restoration repairs.
